Mary Kate Doyle - Founder and Owner

Mary Kate is a graduate of Boston College, mother of three beautiful children and resides in of West Hartford, CT, with her husband John, since 2006. Prior to being a “fitness mogul”, Mary Kate had a 10 year advertising career in Boston and New York. Mary Kate is as passionate about her workouts as she is about craft beer and good cheese. Mary Kate is addicted to travel and loves being on the move. WIP Fitness is her happy place and when she isn’t at WIP she is somewhere with Laura, skiing, at the beach, pulling pints or sharing laughs and good beer with family and friends.


Laura Keever - Founder and Owner

Laura Keever grew up in Boston and attended the University of Rhode Island before settling down in West Hartford with her husband Chris in 2004.  She worked as a human resources professional for major law firms in Boston and Hartford before becoming a fitness “visionary”.   As someone that did not discover the love of fitness until later in life, Laura now enjoys picking up heavy weights and jumping on 30” boxes.  When Laura isn’t practicing her handstands with her daughter, challenging her two boys to push-up contests she can most often be found with Mary Kate (or Laura Kate as they have affectionately been called) and their families on the beaches of the Cape, skiing in Vermont, or slinging cans at the local brewery.


Paul Ducey - Full Time Coach

Paul was born and raised in West Hartford.  He spent 5 years working at ESPN before dedicating himself to a career in personal and group fitness coaching.  Paul is an ISSA certified fitness coach.  He was a WIP Fitness client for over a year before deciding he wanted to be on both sides of the workout.  Now you can get an amazing workout with Paul whether he is your coach or your workout partner.  Paul enjoys all aspects of fitness from strength training to yoga and everything in between.  His hobbies include playing hockey and trying the latest beers from New Park Brewing.


Nic Tiemann - Coach

Nic is a lifelong athlete and has competed in a variety of sports including, football, lacrosse and rugby. His affinity towards sports and background as a Physical Education teacher eventually led him to a career as a strength and conditioning coach. Nic is NSCA certified and enjoys all types of fitness, everything from kettlebell training, to boot camp, to power lifting and running. If you bump into Nic outside the gym, he is watching movies or sports, travelling or being physically active out of doors. Nic recently combined his love of adventure travel and pushing himself physically by hiking Tongariro Crossing and the Ben Lomond Peak in New Zealand.


Caroline Popp - Coach

Caroline is originally from Florida where she attended the University of Florida and discovered her passion for group fitness and became an instructor during her sophomore year. She holds an ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification and an ACSM Personal Trainer certification and after completing her Bachelor’s degree attended Purdue University where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Health and Kinesiology. Outside of coaching at WIP, Caroline is the Group Exercise Coordinator at UConn where she loves training and developing college students to become amazing fitness instructors. Since moving to CT last summer, you can find Caroline enjoying the outdoors, traveling to a new city in New England, and making sure to leave the country at least once a year for a big adventure.


Julia Gotta - Coach

Julia’s love for fitness began with soccer, from a young age soccer allowed her to travel around the country playing and continued to play through her college years. Julia graduated from Southern CT State University with a degree in Exercise Science; she is a Physical Education teacher in the Bloomfield public school system. She first came to WIP as a client and was on the receiving end of the workouts for a few years before making the switch from Client to Coach. When Julia is not coaching at WIP or working with her students in Bloomfield she is lifting heavy, reading, hanging with her two cats Max and Mae or pulling pints at New Park Brewing.


Sharrieff Grice - Coach

Sharrieff grew up surrounded by athletics. Throughout his youth he was a multi sport athlete and never missed an opportunity to try a new sport to challenge himself. His true athletic passion was football, and football eventually led him to Kingswood Oxford in West Hartford and finally to Boston College to play for the Eagles. As a Division I athlete Sharrieff fell in love with the daily grind of training and the preparation it took to perform in one of the premier conferences in college football. In 2017 he decided to hang up his cleats for good and embrace the aspect of athletics he remained passionate about; fitness. Sharrieff is ACE certified and has hands on experience in powerlifting, sports performance training, boot camp fitness, and a multitude of other training styles. When Sharrieff is not coaching at WIP you can find him at your local field training high school athletes, hanging out with his dog Koda, or frequenting bartaco like most 23 year olds in the area.


Adam Glynn - Coach

A West Hartford native, Adam grew up participating in athletics from a young age. His introduction to competitive sports included basketball, baseball, and track and field. Adam was told to give football a try after coaches noticed his keen ability for slide tackling other players in organized soccer games at only 6 years old. Adam's football career blossomed in college when he decided to pursue his love of team sports at the collegiate level whilst attending Western New England University where he earned the position as a captain and lead his team to a conference championship. Adam first came to Work In Progress (WIP) as a client. While there, Adam realized his desire to become a fitness coach. He is now excited to use his knowledge when coaching clients in fun and challenging workouts. When Adam isn't coaching at WIP, you can find him on the sales-floor at JT Ghamo, playing with his new puppy Maverick, or enjoying Sunday bottomless mimosas.


Luis Hernandez (Lou) - Coach

Luis is CT native and served over 6 years in the Marine Corps as an Infantryman. Luis is a Purple Heart recipient, but due to the injuries sustained in combat he was medically discharged from the United States Marine Corps in July 2011. Fitness and improving the lives of others is his passion and he motivates people by sharing his story.  As WIP’s original coach Luis taught the very first WIP class back in 2013. Luis is a WBFF Pro taking first place in both the Bodybuilding and Muscle Model categories. Luis loves to travel the world and when Luis isn’t handing people heavier weights he is at the gym taking selfies.


Naomi Lozada - Coach

Naomi is a CT native and has had a lifelong passion for new adventures and for helping others. She grew up playing volleyball, hiking and has competed in Olympic weightlifting competitions. Naomi graduated from Central CT State University with her degree in Exercise Science and began her career as an exercise physiologist in cardiac rehab within the clinical setting. Naomi absolutely loves the warm weather and new adventures. When she is not at work or WIP you will bump into her in some warm destination from Texas to FL.
